The 17th Conference of the Association Language Awareness “Language Awareness, Education, and Power” took place between 7-10 July 2024 and was hosted by Karlsruhe University of Education, Karlsruhe – Germany. This International Conference celebrated the 30th Anniversary of  ALA from its official establishment as a charity. The 16th Conference of the Association Language Awareness “Language Awareness for the Next 30 Years” was held virtually on 7 and 8 July 2022 at Faculdade de Arquitetura, Artes, Comunicação e Design – Câmpus de Bauru of the Universidade Estadual Paulista “Júlio de Mesquita Filho”, Brazil.

The 15th Conference of the Association Language Awareness was ALA’s first online conference and was held virtually on 30 and 31 October 2020 at Deakin University, Australia – “Languaging and Language Awareness in the Global Age”.


ALA2018The 14th International Conference of the Association for Language Awareness “Towards Language Aware Citizenship” took place in 2018 at the Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam.

 

 


The 13th International Conference of the Association for Language Awareness (ALA 2016) Languages for Life: Education, Professional and Social Contexts was held at the WU in Vienna, Austria.

The 12th International Conference of the Association for Language Awareness (ALA 2014) Language Awareness: Achievements and Challenges was held at Hedmark University College, Norway – 1 – 4 July.


The 11th International Conference of the Association for Language Awareness (ALA 2012) Language Awareness for our Multicultural World was held at the University of Concordia, Montréal, Canada – 8-11 July.


The 10th International Conference of the Association for Language Awareness (ALA 2010) Awareness Matters: Language Culture Literacy was held at the University of Kassel, Germany – 25-28 July.

  In 2009, a special doubleissue of the journalLANGUAGE AWARENESSfeatured articles arising from the ALA conference in Hong Kong ‘Engaging with Language’. A copy of the journal is a benefit of membership of ALA and membership is the cheapest way of receiving it.
